While working as an Operations Supervisor at United Parcel Services (UPS), Robert identified something disturbing in the company’s billing to the federal government. A number of bills indicated that overnight shipments were delivered on time when they were not and that packages were late due to events (like weather) which had not occurred. As a result of Robert reporting this activity and the subsequent investigation by the Department of Justice, UPS settled with the government for $25 million. Robert’s background includes two years at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, a Master’s Degree in Public Policy with a focus on Transportation and over 20 years working in the Transportation field. He has managed large personnel groups covering such transportation issues as routing, preload, sorting, and air supervision. He has worked with a number of transportation systems including dispatch planning systems, hub packages, delivery systems and processing systems. Robert has been with the City of Alexandria as a Transportation Specialist for the last 9 years where he has helped plan, implement and administer the city’s Paratransit Service.
